TRUE FOB™ Training: KD Chair and Table Packaging Standards

1. Introduction to Packaging Standards

TRUE FOB™ has created these guidelines to help suppliers design packaging that survives the full global shipping and handling process without product damage. Protecting the product strengthens the TRUE FOB™ brand and the reputation of our suppliers.

Goals:

  • Minimize product damage during shipping and handling.
  • Develop packaging based on real-world supply chain hazards.
  • Pass TRUE FOB™ Transit Testing Protocols.

2. KD Chair Packaging Standards

KD Chair Storage and Stacking

  • Cartons must withstand stacking up to 6 high without collapsing.
  • Carton flaps must match "Line To Ground" markings so the flaps are on top when stacked.

KD Chair Inner-Pack Requirements

  • No more than two chairs per carton.
  • Each component (legs, stretchers, arms) must be individually wrapped in polypropylene.
  • Chair parts packed in a separate inner carton.
  • Corrugated layers must separate chair components.
  • Seats/cushions must not be compressed or creased.
  • Fillers (EPS foam) used to minimize air space where needed.

KD Chair Outer Carton Requirements

  • Strong carton construction (RSC or Telescoping style).
  • Cartons sealed with 2" self-adhesive tape (no staples).
  • All required TRUE FOB™ labels and Line To Ground markings applied correctly.

3. KD Table Packaging Standards

KD Table Storage and Transit Handling

Products must be stored and moved vertically, horizontally, or flat stacked. Cartons must be designed to survive all types of handling and storage.

Line to Ground Requirement

  • 3" wide black Line To Ground stripe, 2" from the bottom on any side that contacts the ground.

KD Table Inner-Pack Requirements

  • 1/16" Microfoam Poly Sheeting must cover all finished surfaces.
  • Adequate cushioning and filler required based on weight and size (refer to Material Specification Chart).
  • Removable sacrificial wood blocks installed at tabletop corners with "Please Remove" label.
  • Corner protection using corrugate, foam, and/or injection molded plastic.
  • Top, bottom, edge, and sides fully protected with cushioning filler matching corner protection thickness.
  • Installable components (legs, leaves) packed in inner cartons, wrapped with microfoam.
  • Inner cartons must be strapped securely to the underside of tabletops (use wood screws, no staples).

KD Table Outer Carton Requirements

  • Strong carton construction (Two-piece telescoping or Five-Panel Folder style).
  • Cartons sealed with 2" self-adhesive tape (no staples).
  • Line To Ground markings applied correctly.
  • "Cut line" printed on cartons where safe to open if needed.
  • "Fragile Handle With Care" labels required for stone/glass items.

Hardware Packaging Requirements

  • Red "Hardware" streamer must protrude outside carton to identify hardware packs.
  • Hardware packs must be secured to product or installable components.
  • Inner cartons labeled per TRUE FOB™ standards.
